Amy Norsten, MA, LMFT

I am a LMFT & LPCC Board-Approved Clinical Supervisor in the State of MN, identifying as multi-racial and queer. With competencies in supervision within community mental health, community-based crisis response, and private practice settings, I strive to provide a supportive yet critically explorative environment for supervisees.

In my role as a clinical supervisor, I emphasize a balance between support and constructive feedback. I incorporate Internal Family Systems as an approach to address matters concerning the self of the therapist.

My training and practice revolve around systems-based models and theories, primarily supporting children, adolescents, and adults. Furthermore, I have received specialized training in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS Institute), TF-CBT, and Mental Health crisis assessment and response.

I view supervision through a decolonizing lens, recognizing the need to dismantle colonial structures and systems within mental health. This approach involves centering equity, decolonizing practices, and amplifying diverse voices. I actively confront and cultivate humility to mitigate personal implicit biases and increase awareness. I recognize and honor intersectionality, embracing the diverse backgrounds of supervisees while striving to create a space that is inclusive and empowering.
